CoyoteWhiskers: Predator Deterrent Accessory

***Note: Assembly required.***

Designed specifically for use with CoyoteVest or SpikeVest products.

CoyoteWhiskers are lightweight, colorful nylon bristles designed to intimidate predators by making your pet look like a difficult, "high-risk" target rather than an easy meal.

Key Features

  • Visual Deterrent: Bright bristles mimic natural defense mechanisms to discourage attacks before they happen.

  • Physical Irritant: While flexible and safe, the bristles are stiff enough to irritate an attacker’s eyes and mouth, making it difficult to bite down.

  • Lightweight & Safe: Does not impair pet mobility and is not dangerous to humans or pets.

  • Easy Attachment: Secures firmly to the top of the vest using Velcro.

Sizing & Ordering

  • Universal Fit: One size fits all (Mini, X-Small, Small, and Medium vests).

  • Standard Set: Sold in a set of 4.

  • Replacements: Single whiskers are available for SpikeHarnesses or to replace lost/damaged units.

Assembly Information

The CoyoteWhiskers come as a kit and require roughly 20 minutes to assemble. The process involves feeding the bristles into specialized cups that hold them in place.

Wonderful peace of mind!

"We so appreciate our Coyote Vests for our small terriers! Our offense is about a 2, so we need 9. 5 defense! Now we have more peace of mind that our babies are protected from bigger dogs, and predators. Even in downtown Vancouver we’ve seen Eagles, coyotes and raccoons loose in our neighborhood. They fit so well too! In this pic they’re wearing their vests over their rain suits. Luckily the vests themselves are waterproof too with PNW weather! Thanks so much to the Coyote Vest owners and creators! Most sincerely, Laura and Tracy Bollin"

Bad Ass

"He looks like a little bad ass and hes safe from the coyotes and foxes that live in our backyard."

Durable!

"Whiskers hold on great and I have no regrets adding these on. The dogs don’t even notice from on there and they just give that little bit more confidence in their safety. They were easy to put together following the instructions."

I feel better with pups wearing these

"My house outside of Chicago backs up to a nature preserve, which is great…except for the coyotes. I have a fenced yard, but they can climb fences. In warmer weather, I walk the yard with a flashlight & my 2 pups anytime between dusk and sunrise. I needed a better solution for winter. Built a smaller enclosure around my patio with lighted temporary fencing and put these Coyote Vests on my little ones when they go out. I set the lights to blinking, so that it’s easy for me to keep an eye on them from the door, and to deter predators. I’m sure I like the vests better than Tiller or Birdie do…but they've adjusted well to wearing them. I feel better with them having a layer of protection on."

COMFORT?

"I purchased a coyote vest for my Havanese about 2 months ago. I was concerned there was a fit issue as my Dog really dislikes the vest. Communications and photos with Coyote Vest confirm it is a good fit. Im not sure what the issue is but my dog absolutely HATES the vest. I have tried to ease him into it and have given him 2 months to “adjust and acclimate”. When he is in the vest He walks with his nose to the ground to get away from the collar construction. He is unable to turn his head to the side or look back. He cowers when it is time to go for a walk as he is so adverse to the vest. At this point, I will just have to commit him to always being leashed for our walks. The vest is clearly well made but my dog just wont tolerate it."

Excellent!!!!

"I thought about getting these a few years ago when I was out one night with one dog and my headlamp caught two yellow coyote eyes looking at us from behind a bush. The coyote was silent, and had I taken a few more steps, he would have grabbed my dog. I was lucky that night. I went to the Coyote Vest website, and almost bought the vest, but held off. Recently, I heard about a neighbor whose dog was killed by a pack of coyotes who grabbed the dog as she was walking out of her garage. The next day, I bought 2 Spike Vests. The vests are light weight and my dogs don’t mind wearing them at all. The velcro straps are so easy to work with. I also bought 2 sets of “Whiskers” and “P-Lights”. I’m thrilled with everything. I looked at the quick “how-to” videos on the website and they were great and helpful. I went back to the website a week later and bought the clips for hanging them (a VERY helpful solution for where to put the vests when not in use). My 6lbs dog is wearing an XS and my 10lbs dog is wearing the Small. I still leave the house with rocks in my pockets, and a whistle around my neck (I’d prefer to scare a coyote away from a distance), but I feel so much better knowing that if a coyote got close enough to grab, he’d have to first get past the whiskers and the spikes and the puncture-resistant fabric."

Thank you!

"We got this vest because we worry about the safety of our 3 lb terrier in the backyard. It has exceeded our expectations. Thank you!"

Great quality

"I ordered the coyote vest for my 11 month old 8 pound miniature schnauzer Lainey Mae. We live in a rural area in southern Arizona and wanted protection against the predators. My neighbor recommended the coyote vest and I am so thankful I decided to order it. Great quality and she doesn’t mind wearing it."

Q&A

Do you have anything for a duck? I have Khaki Campbell ducks, and I really could use something like this for protection for one of my ducks, who is constantly being attacked by the other two. I really need help for my duck, Sugarpie. Thank you for any help that you can give me.
Hi, We love the name Sugarpie and we are sorry to hear Sugarpie is being attacked. We did have a customer who purchased spikestrips and somehow put them on their turkey. Possibly our CoyoteCollar for the neck may help. At this time we really do not have safety gear made for ducks, but we say if it fits wear it. We now have goats, lambs and a pig wearing CoyoteVest pet body armor.
Can I use the spikes or whiskers with my present harness?
That should be possible if the harness has some loop velcro where they can be attached.
How durable are the whiskers? My dogs sometimes run through the bushes, and occasionally try to roll in smelly things (oh the joy.) Do the whiskers stand up well to this? Also, do the cups and velcro hold on strongly enough for the same?
Yes, they stay on very well. Our dog Scooter loves to turn over and grind his back in the grass -- when he gets up the whiskers spring back like nothing ever happened.
What vest would you recommend for protection from hawks and coyotes? We live in the desert near mountains and have a pomeranian. I think the Coyote vest looks durable, but the spikes look more intimidating to predators?
Both the CoyoteVest and the SpikeVest come with spikes. In your situation we would probably recommend a SpikeVest with a HawkShield and a set of CoyoteWhiskers -- that would help protect against both hawks and coyotes.
Say you want to order a spiked vest and you want the coyote whiskers. Do the whisker cups on the velcro strip attach to the vest by stitching or glue? You say it's easy to do but you don't explain how the velcro strip attaches to the vest between rows of spikes. Thankyou
Sorry for any confusion. The whisker cups are very easy to use. The cups slide onto a separate strip of Velcro and then that strip is attached to the Velcro that is sewn onto the vest. You don't need any glue.
