The CoyoteVest: Patented Protection for Your Dog

The CoyoteVest was created out of necessity after our own tragic experience with a predator. This patented body armor is designed to slow down or prevent surprise attacks from coyotes, aggressive dogs, and birds of prey--giving you the critical time needed to react and save your pet.

    • Reflective Features: Stay visible during evening walks.

    • Accessory Compatible: Designed to work perfectly with CoyoteWhiskers and the HawkShield.

  • Weatherproof & Durable: Waterproof fabric with no metal parts to rust. Hand-washable and built to last.

  • Leash Attachment: Includes a built-in D-ring for secure leash connection.

Sizing Guide

The back length is your most important measurement.

To get the perfect fit, measure your dog while they are standing (not sitting). Measure in a straight line from the shoulder to the start of the tail--do not follow the curve of the dog's back.

Size Back Length Weight Range*
Mini 9" 2 – 5 lbs
X-Small 10" 5 – 7 lbs
Small 13" 6 – 12 lbs
Medium 15" 10 – 28 lbs
Large 20" 25 – 55 lbs

Pro Tip: If you're between sizes, we recommend choosing the smaller size. Still unsure? Send us an email support@coyotevest.com with a side-view photo and your measurements, and we’ll help you choose!

Complete the Protection

Care Note: Air dry in the shade. Fluorescent colors (like Orange) may fade over time in the sun, similar to high-visibility safety gear; this does not affect the vest's integrity.

Notes:

*XS, XXS vests have 1 row of collar spikes.

*Patent Number: US20180177155A1, #10264763, #9901074

Vest gives peace of mind and a few seconds to defend my dog

"The vest is very well designed and made. It fits my dog well, and it doesn't bother him at all. The vest covers the critical body parts, like the neck, chest, and stomach. I bought the vest because a vicious dog attacked my dog and was badly hurt. This vest gives me peace of mind and a few seconds to respond with pepper spray or other methods. Thanks for a great product."

Good fit, material feels solid

"It is easy to adjust and make fit. You can touch the spikes without getting hurt but they feel solid enough for their purpose."

Better than I thought they would be!

"For the price I was skeptical but I was desperate and I was not impressed with anything else that was similar. I am not sure they constitute the price of over $100 per coat, however, the design is nice, The material is extremely durable. The velcro seems to be a great quality so I have no regrets spending the money and honestly am a lot more pleased with them that I expected to be. I bought the snap-in style clasps since my one dog has troubles with the Velcro getting stuck on her fur. These are still Velcro but they are smaller diameter and they do not come undone or catch her fur. The small fit my two dogs perfectly! One is a 10# Pomeranian (short body) and the other is a 12# Maltipoo (Long body). I would absolutely buy these again. The Velcro on whiskers and spikes hold on well, I have had no issues with them coming off. Even with their wrestling and romping and rolling in the snow, they stay put. I was surprised at how sharp the spikes are and was a little worried they would hurt themselves with them playing but they seemed to learn fast enough how to avoid the spikes. If you are holding off due to the price, I recommend you take the chance. Do not buy them off Amazon, I recommend buying from Coyote vest website direct."

Keeping my little one safe

"Pepper has been wearing her vest for about a month and she has adjusted to the fit. I walk her primarily in a suburban neighborhood so it seems a little strange to onlookers. They think its her death metal outfit. LOL I exercise common sense as well. One of my neighbors a young man weighing in at about 130 soaking wet is taken for a walk daily by his two (2) Cane Corsos. If I see them coming I turn around and quickly get out of their way. The dogs don't seem aggressive but Pepper doesn't always have any sense in her little head. Then there are situations that are out of my control. We have had two incidents in my neighborhood where people's small to medium dogs were killed by large dogs that got out of their yards. I'm not willing to risk Pepper's life and my heartbreak because I "seem" overly cautious. It is unlikely to happen but possible. The vest gives me peace of mind when walking my pup. Worth it to me."

Helpful protective gear

"My Beagle and I were attacked by a loose Pitbull last fall. I am afraid to walk her, so I walk with a friend, a stun baton, and my dog in her Coyote vest. I pray we are never attacked again, but with her vest, it should deter dogs from wanting to bite on the spikes."

Sammi loves her Coyote Vest

"We feel safer knowing she has protection and Sammi loves putting on her vest knowing that she will get to run and play more freely and safely."

thank you from Bobby and Charlie

"very pleased, the size is accurate. and that is important because of the trouble at the border. . . and the extra tax because of politics. . i love the material! i love that i can safely walk my dogs again. My old dog Charlie got attacked by a large powerfull dog and was lucky to survive. Theese vest gives me the confidense to walk them again. And i will forever use vests now! I also like i can adjust them so I can give them their wintercoat under them on the freezing days! So much love and gratitude from Scandinavia, Denmark🇩🇰🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾"

Rocking the vests!

"Vinnie and Frankie have been rocking the coyote vests in the interior of BC. Makes their fur-rents way more comfortable letting them off leash to run the trails. Both are sporting size mediums. Frankie is 22 lbs and 15 inches long and and Vinnie is 25 lbs and 17 inches long. Vests fit snug without any rubbing in the armpits, even with their short little legs. Durable well made product."

Q&A

Why do you not make the vest for larger dogs? I have a 75 lb Pit bull and a 140lb Mastiff.
At this time we have been concentrating on the dogs 2 lbs to approx 65 lbs depending on their measurements. We hope to make a larger size in the future. Check out our Spiked Collars for big dogs for protection on the neck.
I need to exchange the vest for a smaller size, what and how do I do this? Thanks!
Hi Mike, I found your order from the information you provided. We would be happy to help assist you with an exchange. We are sending you an e-mail, to the one provided with all the information to start this process.
Is it better to go slightly bigger or smaller when sizing? I have three chihuahuas all tiny and close to the same size. I am thinking xs to make sure it could fit all three?
Hi! It's better to go down a size. It's ok if it's 1-2 inches short, but you don't want it to be too big. We have more information on sizing if you check out our website :)
Hello, I noticed on your site the vest for cats states not to leave them alone. We live in the country and our cat has always roamed freely until he, thank goodness recently survived a coyote attack. He is now on a leash but not happy, can we use the spikevest for dogs and still allow him to roam around the area?
It's important to understand that the purpose of the CoyoteVest (or SpikeVest) is to slow down or prevent a surprise attack and give you time to react. If your pet (dog or cat) is left unattended in the presence of a dangerous predator -- and you're not there to intervene -- it's very possible the predator(s) will eventually figure out a way to succeed.
I have an 5-6 year old German Shepherd-Border Collie Mix who’s 90+ lbs and is a beautiful long-hair dog. Sadly since developing medical issues and it’s affecting his mobility and gait. He now seems vulnerable to me - whereas I didn’t worry so much in the past. Your size chart shows ‘Large’ as being up to about 55 lbs. Any chance you’ll be making ones for truly big dogs?
Hi, He sounds like a beautiful fur baby. We love all dogs big and small, but unfortunately at this time we only have stab-resistant vests up to large which is approx 55 lbs. You may be interested in our Spiked Collars for Big Dogs, as the neck is where most serious injuries occur.
